Typical restaurants & brasseries
The Lake Geneva Region (canton of Vaud) boasts over a hundred restaurants proposing authentic cuisine. Here is a selection of typical restaurants and brasseries in our region.
Aubonne
Le Café du Cercle
In a world of flowers and genuineness, the owner offers a very inventive cuisine inspired by the seasons and his own mood. The carte is regal and changes every two weeks.
Closed on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and Mondays.
Baulmes
L'Auberge de Baulmes
In a quaint village house at the foot of the Jura, a young team offers their guests fresh produce from the surroundings, aromatic herbs from the garden, a few old varieties of vegetables, meat coming from open-air livestock farming that respects the animals. The Auberge also has 5 tastefully decorated rooms to offer.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday noon, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7 to 11:00 pm.

Bex
Le Café Suisse
This diner used to be a large farm. The establishment places fondue, steak tartare and frogs’ legs in a choice position, all in a convivial atmosphere.
Closed on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm and on Sundays.
Chardonne
Le Café Au Bon Vin
In the typical setting of a pinte, (a welcoming inn, where you can have local wine and a meal), the establishment offers many Vaudois specialities such as malakoffs and pork products. The clientele can choose from a variety of wines by several local winemakers. The establishment is undoubtedly one of the last pintes to double as a butchery (production and smoking on the premises).
Closed on Sundays.
Château-d'Oex
Au Montagnard
An architectural jewel, this restaurant is also one of the oldest houses on the rue du Village. Painted in the local style, it serves meats grilled over wood charcoal fire, cheese dishes (fondue, raclette, crepes from Gruyères), and other specialities of the house prepared by the owner with great finesse and a gastronomic touch.
Chéserex
L'Auberge des Platanes
The Auberge des Platanes is a house for delicacy-lovers, with its characteristic extreme elegance. The cuisine is refined, with a particular note going to the speciality of the house: its beef steak tartare, which made the establishment’s reputation well beyond the boundaries of the area, is a must.
